Busy Bee

However, I took time off this year so no more cram-13-stores-in-2-days-for-crawl experience. Yarn money is appreciated!
I’ve been busy finishing my Persuading Jane and it’s finished aside from sewing on buttons and weaving in ends.
Kevin Minion looks like something out of a hiphop group, with his one overall strap held on by a st marker.
Started working on my Fire Shawl pattern. Well, restarted? I started a while back and had put it on the back burner and it’s now back at play as of August 14, 2017.
But it’s been fun and I am enjoying the progress being made! The harder part will be finding the label for the yarn I’m using since it’s #vacationyarn and Ravelry Red by Malabrigo.
Doing another Obsidian in blues.

OMGOMGOMGOMG new yarn shop!!! And guess what!!!! OMGOMGOMG it’s right next to where I knit on Saturdays with the San Diego Central Knitters!!

There’s a large parking lot for the amount of shops in this plaza and it’s spread out enough that I’ve never had a hard time findng parking here. I don’t mind walking a couple extra feet and parking a little further away should the need ever arise in this lot. There’s a Vons, a couple spas and several different places to eat here. While this location may be adjacent to the Vons, there’s a break in the parking lot allowing cars to pass and essentially segregates Vons parking from the Starbucks parking.
I haven’t been here during the day but if you’re lucky enough to be here there is outside seating available and I’ve often wondered about knitting here during daylight hours. If you’ve tried it let me know how it was! On the inside though, there is limited seating available and as far as Starbucks goes, this one is a little more dimly lit but there are some tables that get more light than others. Competing for these seats is not as intense as it may seem. Many of the patrons I’ve seen come in typically order and leave.

One quick blog post for you all today, too interested in watching Reign on Netflix. Today I’m excited to say that I’ll be joined by a friend from out of town that I’ve been teaching to knit! So in the meantime I have much to do! I must find some scrap yarn for teaching and do that adulting thing (food prep and laundry and such).
After working on the Rock Island shawl the Persuading Jane pattern has been quite easy and I’m currently on row 5 of the chart portion. I’m excited for the finished results but we shall see since this is my 2nd ever attempt at a piece project.
Four day week this week!! Super cool! Apricot Yarn, Liberty Station, Point Loma, CA is opening Friday and I have the day off! My bank account may end up hating me but that’s ok!
Alright folks must leave, laundry becons to be put in the dryer and much knitting to do!

I’ve always enjoyed the coffee here but there’s not much seating inside and often seems to be taken up by local residents. There is seating outside but may not be adequate for those with fingering weight or darker colored yarns. On one side of the patio, which over looks the street and a forest of greenery, there is a strip of overhead lighting but I don’t believe it would be enough light.
Day in the Life of ..
So excited that I finished my Rock Island Shawl! I haven’t blocked it yet but that’s just not really my kind of thing. I am also happy to say that I am working on my next project, Persuading Jane. This will be the first bottom up project I have done in 5 years! Nothing to show for it yet though, only 2/3 of the way through the initial 3″ ribbing.
It’s pretty much Thursday!! So that means I shall be knitting with friends this evening providing I sleep soon and make it through work. Dreadfully, I have not finished my Minion and he’s probably not going to be finished in time for this years birthday either. So perhaps if time permits this weekend I can force myself to get some work done on it. Perhaps when I go to knit w/the ladies this weekend!

So I’ve been here a few times over the past few years. I do the 9-6pm shift so I don’t make it here during the day unless it’s a weekend. There is not a lot of seating inside so you may wind up outside which is often fine with the lovely San Diego weather. If you’re lucky to have your pick of tables iside, there is enough light to see at all the tables but I felt that the seats closer to the door had more lighting than those in the back.
If you plan to knit and are forced to sit outside after dark, then do not bring your dark projects. There is lighting outside but it’s not spread evenly so depending on where you sit you may find that the lighting is not adequate in some spots. I’ve also noticed that this seems to be the high school/college hangout and frequently see kids hanging out having a good time. While there is plenty of seating outside as it is shared between the establishments, there are only so many spots with enough light in the evenings.
Parking: shared between a few adjacent eateries and a Smart & Final which I frequent and have had no problems finding parking any time I’ve visited.
My personal opinion about this location is that the drinks are inconsistent in taste and quality. I took the time to write corporate so things may change soon. The last visit to this location was sometime May 2017.
Places to Knit (in Public)
Over the past couple of years I’ve been compiling a list of places to knit, or not to knit. Originally, I was sticking to Starbucks in the area because I wanted to see which was the best one but I end up knitting everywhere and places outside the realm of Starbucks may find themselves in the list.
I have had this blog for six years and do nothing with it since I’m not much of a writer and also do not feel like writing much. Moving forward, I will try to change that. So I shall start tagging posts #placetoknit and yes, I’ll actually start posting legitimate blog posts (when I don’t feel like knitting, Haha!) in addition to filling my blog with my IG posts #knitterofinstagram.
